What Is a Bounty Hunter? 

You've likely seen bounty hunters on reality TV shows and in movies, but do you actually know what they do? Bounty hunters are, on some level, like any other kind of detective. They track down criminals that have eluded the police and turn them into law enforcement officials. However, there's no "official" educational route to becoming a bounty hunter. Educational requirements vary by state, but most states will require a high school diploma or GED in order to be eligible for a job as a bounty hunter.

Types of Bounty Hunters

According to Bounty Hunters HQ, there are three main types of people that make up the ranks of bounty hunters: Fugitive Recovery Agents (FRAs), Fugitive Investigators (FIs) and bail enforcement agents (BEAs). When an individual has failed to show up to their court date but has borrowed money from a bail bondsman, then the bail bonds company will likely hire a bail enforcement agent.
