The three parties involved are the bond issuer (the institution posting the surety bond), the principal (the person or company who has committed an offense, and whose actions are being guaranteed by the bond), and the surety (the institution offering money or property as payment for the principal's appearance in court). The three different kinds of bonds are: commercial, bail, and personal.
